Addo departs Ghana post

Eleven weeks out from their opening FIFA World Cup fixture, the Black Stars are in search of a new coach after parting ways with Otto Addo.

Just 78 days before their nation’s opening FIFA World Cup 2026™ clash with Panama, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced that they have parted ways with head coach Otto Addo.

In a statement, the GFA thanked Addo for his contributions and noted that the search for a replacement is underway.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with the Head Coach of the senior men’s national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo effective immediately.

“The Ghana Football Association will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course.”

The 50-year-old had been in his second stint at the Black Stars helm although the team has struggled of late, with a 2-1 loss against Germany in Stuttgart this week being the side’s fourth consecutive defeat.

After their World Cup opener in Toronto, Ghana are set to face England in Boston and then Croatia in Philadelphia.
